Hong Kong 08-Aug-2003-- Bibianna Fine Jewellery, which provides jewellery courses, is proud to announce that 3 of its students are finalists in 2 international Jewellery Competitions:
The unique courses and programs Bibianna Fine Jewellery offers give students a head start in the fierce arena of international jewellery competitions.
Bibi Cheung, the founder of the company, has a long history in the industry and was educated in the UK, says about the philosophy of the company "We have always believed in creativity and strive to be unique instead of copying other international designers' designs. Nature, our surroundings, multitude of cultural differences, and folk art etc provide us with endless opportunities to create our very own style, sand to be different while remaining trendy, fashionable and commercial."
"We have identified a gap in the market. Although Hong Kong is a major exporter / manufacturer of high quality jewellery and among the top five in the global market, there are not many institutions offering high quality courses and especially none that caters to non-Chinese speakers." Bibi continued, "This is what has motivated us to set up our courses in Hong Kong, to allow aspiring designers to express themselves either as a hobby or as professional jewellers who setup their own businesses, and to give the local market a boost and a choice of different designs".
"Unlike Western countries where jewellery design is taught from certificate to Masters' degree in universities, many companies in Hong Kong and China still rely on apprentices, where the younger employees learn from the tricks of the trade from older designers. And the education system only offers courses up to certificate level."
"We do not believe in the 'repeat after me 3 times' theme, which is very common in Hong Kong, or to ask students to do endless repetitions of pointless designs" Bibi said "Instead, we motivate students to express themselves first, while improving their technique over time with practice"
Bibi, an acclaimed designer herself with many UK design competitions awards, always encourages her students to take part in international competitions to help them get the exposure they deserve and to raise their self esteem.
Bibi's aspirations for the students include: Helping them build a good portfolio of work, if they take on further education abroad, or to improve their career prospects if they move into the job market and inspiring them to start their own jewellery businesses.
Since there is a lack of venues and media exposure, Bibianna's company website, with its integral online digital gallery, is used extensively to show off the students' work globally without cost to them. Through the website's sophisticated search engines' coverage, hundreds of people from every corner of the world manage to view and appreciate the students' unique designs.
