About The Founder - Bibi Cheung
Career HistoryBibi combines over 14 years of commercial and management experience in jewellery design, production, training and marketing. She was born in Hong Kong, and moved to the UK in 1989 to extend her study. She established Spinos Connection Ltd in 1994 in London UK, designing, manufacturing and selling the company's own range of jewellery in the UK and European market. In addition the company accepts special commission jewellery orders . Bibi returned back to Hong Kong in 2000 and renamed the company, “Bibianna Fine Jewellery Ltd.” Further on in October 2005 the company was renamed to Asimi Ltd. With her strong desire to teach, she decided to arrange an exciting, fun, and effective range of courses in fine jewellery design, beading jewellery design and making. This gives her both the opportunity to introduce newcomers to the fascinating world of jewellery, as well as share her knowledge of the field. From March 2-2002 - Sept 2003, she worked as an instructor at The School of Continuing Education of Hong Kong Baptist University. teaching Fine Jewellery Design and Fine Jewellery Making (silversmithing or benchwork) to over 200 students. Bibi studied at the internationally renowned London Guildhall University (Sir John Cass) Silversmithing , Jewellery and Allied Crafts Department now renamed to London Metropolitan University where she originally received formal training as a jeweller and designer. She graduated with a “Postgraduate Certificate in Silversmithing, Jewellery and Allied Crafts” in 1995 with distinction, and a “Master of Art in Applied and Visual Culture” in 1996. Professional QualificationsDuring her years at university, Bibi also took a number of external examinations and received certificates in advanced craft in design, practical diamond mounting technical skills, setting and engraving from the “City and Guilds of London Institute”, Britain’s largest technical testing and qualifying body. She became a professional designer, jeweller, setter and engraver. Bibi was one of 25 students in UK to be invited to a course “Introduction to Business for Jewellers and Silversmiths”.
